Me, same here. Just paid at 14 January and now suffering downtime. As a computer science student life is terrible without access to internet. You have made clarifications on some issues. Thanks.

Welcome Atiq. Still no official word from them and their website is still down. But many clients are now being able to browse and perform simple tasks such as checking email.

Still no connection at my end. Have been disconnected from last Thursday. Can not even find an alternate company to switch to who may provide competitive service like smile. Really frustrating that there is no one company who offers as good a deal as smile did. I think it is high time that there should be more companies offering better deals like smile.

I also payed on 14th Jan and got disconnected on 15th. I got the connection back yesterday (22nd Jan) but the speed really sucks!!! It is less than 10 Kbps and varies considerably, which isn't enough for even casual surfing.
And yeah, more than anything, missing online Counterstrike very much :(

The horrible RAB and BTRC again pulled back the net users. What will they do in future?....Turning off all the email system? Cos the post-office(dak-jogajog) revenue has gone down very low after the evolution of email. I believe---most of the senior BTRC officers are assholes.and they are corrupted. Can u show one person who has taken BTTB telephone line and didn't give bribe.I piss on BTRC. What they r doing is trying to corrupt other organs to be like them...Did they even thought what will be the effect to the end users?? I think they didn't. Because the are corrupted and self-centered. ASSHOLES...ASSHOLES.....ASSHOLES......

@papps Please refrain from using angry vocabulary. What RAB and BTRC did was justified from their end, but they should have allowed Smile some extra time to make sure that the paying customers do not suffer.
@Hasan - I feel you brother ! I been having a hard time using GPInternet as well. Baje obostha !

I got disconnected on the 15th of January and did not get anyone from the concerned authority for an explanation. Like others, I was satisfied with my gold package and bandwidth. Now, I am maintaining my connectivity with GP internet. Once again in my life, high speed internet connection becomes a dream, not a reality. The evil doers should be punished but the law enforcing authority should have taken us, the users, into consideration. They should have informed us before pulling the plug. In that case, many of us would not have paid the bill on the 14th of January.

Dear, I know exactly what type of language i'm using.I am in this industry for last 10 years. and u have no idea what BTRC r trying to do....
Ehab
@papps - True. I know nothing about BTRC.
@Md. Mahbub Satter Thank you for your comment. Many Smile users have got their connection back. Did you get yours ?
As for the authorities not taking the customers situation into consideration - I believe that they have little or no clue about the importance of Internet in our daily life. I can't imagine what I would be doing without backup from my GP Internet right now.
Don't loose your dreams about high speed internet though, it would be back soon :)

In Campus area, smile was not back though I hear they are back outside zones. So we are to switch to other ISPs. But the money we paid smile is lost! What a business policy of smile! We have still the money receipts.. But what can we do?

All the Smile subscribers are up now, through Ektoo ISP. Smile did not connect all the clients directly. They had this feed business. Like their corporate office was somewhere in Agargaon and in Uttara there is a feed from Nikunja who connect all the users. No I guess all the feeds moved with Ektoo ISP to save their ass.
The sad part is the users are not getting that much FAST speed anymore. :)

Fuck of BTRC... They are the most nonsense organization of Bangladesh. They are the number one obstacle of latest technology. They have no control over the ISP. They should monitor every ISP that they are giving enough speed to the customer or not. Coz BTCL provided bandwith cost is not high but ISP do not give enough speed to customer.

My broadband connection is back now. But it is very irregular. Speed goes up-and down now and then. I leaned that Eaktoo Ltd. has taken over the operation of smile , in my area. Thats in Rupnagar, MIrpur.
During the initial days of service disruption, local area-in-charge from smile told me "Server Puira gese..!". He didn't told me anthing about the legal problems Smile is facing.
We, all the broadband users, should be united. That can be done in local basis. if we can create a local pressure group of abt 20-30 users in a area, we can force our service providers to give us better service or we can move to any other service provider for better service. This is not possible, if we shout alone.
To communicate among ourselves we may use LAN chat coftwares such as Outlook LAN messenger (from www.srimax.com ) or any other. This software is very helpful. Recently when SMile was off, i was browsing shared shared folders in the LAN. & found this in a guys PC.
Outlook Messenger is a state-of-art instant messaging solution for interactions within local area network (LAN). U can have Text Chat, Voice Chat & Send File functions with other users in the LAN.
Even a novice user can install Outlook Messenger, because No Server, No IP address is necessary to configure. Outlook Messenger will run instantly after installation.
So, friends lets be united, n put pressure on them, to give us better service, within reasonable cost.
Or, we'll "Smile" on them, & move away to other service proveder, in groups.

I do agree with ur comments. All ISP's r doing illegal VOIP business. Why only smile has been punished. They could've fined them. And even i heard smile is been backed by past gov. people, this could be one of the reason to be hanged.
Pathetic. We r suffering now.Come back smile give ur best punch to get back to us. I used to use smile through 29 communication.
